Five Questions Before You Request a Quote.

  1. What loads must the material carry? Define tensile, yield, fatigue or stiffness requirements.
  2. What environment will it see? Consider temperature, seawater, chemicals and process media.
  3. Will it be formed or machined? Formability and machining strategy can change the preferred grade.
  4. Which standard governs the purchase? State ASTM, AMS, medical or customer specifications whenever applicable.
  5. What product form and dimensions are required? Bar, sheet, pipe, wire, forging and CNC parts may have different standard routes.

Common starting points

Grade 1 and Grade 2 are common commercially pure titanium choices; Grade 5 is the familiar Ti-6Al-4V engineering alloy; Grade 9 and Grade 23 address more specialized requirements. EST Metal also lists Grades 7 and 12 in its current product information.
