WHY BUY TO SPECIFICATION?

One requirement.
One clear route.

For engineered materials, grade alone is rarely enough. Include dimensions, tolerance, surface condition, inspection requirements and destination when applicable.

EST Metal's current product range includes titanium and titanium alloy forms for industrial and medical applications.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Titanium Bar Specifications and Supply Options

EST Metal supplies titanium round bar and rod for industrial, engineering, medical and precision manufacturing requirements. Material selection should be based on the required titanium grade, dimensional tolerance, surface condition, mechanical requirements and the applicable customer or industry specification.

Titanium Grades

Common titanium bar requirements include commercially pure titanium and titanium alloys such as Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 5, Grade 7 and Grade 12. The appropriate grade depends on the balance of corrosion resistance, strength, formability, operating environment and downstream manufacturing process.

Grade 2 is widely considered for corrosion-resistant industrial components, while Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V is commonly selected where higher strength is required. Other titanium grades can be reviewed according to the drawing, specification and application.

Standards and Material Requirements

Titanium bar may be supplied to customer drawings and applicable material specifications. ASTM B348 is commonly associated with titanium and titanium-alloy bars and billets, while aerospace, medical and special engineering projects may require additional specifications or customer-specific acceptance criteria.

When requesting a quotation, please identify the required standard, grade and any supplementary inspection or certification requirements. Where requirements differ from standard commercial practice, our team can review the specification before quotation.

Diameter, Length and Tolerance

Titanium bar can be supplied in different diameters and lengths according to the required product form and manufacturing route. Diameter tolerance, straightness, cut length and end condition should be defined where they are important to subsequent machining or component production.

For precision applications, include the finished or incoming material dimensions on the RFQ rather than relying only on a nominal diameter. This allows the required tolerance and machining allowance to be reviewed before production.

Surface and Processing Condition

Surface condition can affect machining, inspection and final component quality. Depending on the requirement, titanium bar may be supplied with mill, machined, ground or other specified surface conditions. Any requirements for surface finish, oxide removal, cleaning or downstream processing should be stated on the purchase specification.

Testing and Certification

Supply documentation can be reviewed according to the applicable order requirements. Typical purchasing requirements may include material identification, chemical composition, mechanical property results, heat or lot traceability and a material test certificate.

If additional testing, third-party inspection or special documentation is required, include it with the enquiry so the inspection scope can be confirmed before quotation.

Typical Applications

Titanium bar is used as starting material for machined and engineered components where low density, corrosion resistance, strength or material compatibility are important. Typical project areas include chemical processing equipment, marine components, medical and precision parts, industrial hardware and custom machined components.

How to Specify Titanium Bar

A complete titanium bar enquiry normally includes the titanium grade, material standard, diameter, length, quantity, tolerance, surface condition and required certification. Drawings should be included where dimensions or inspection requirements cannot be fully described in the RFQ.

For cut-to-length, custom-size or application-specific requirements, send the technical details to EST Metal for a specification review before quotation.

TITANIUM BAR & ROD SUPPLY

Titanium Bar and Titanium Rod Supply to ASTM B348

EST Metal supplies titanium bar and titanium rod for industrial, engineering, machining and custom component applications. Material selection is based on the required titanium grade, diameter, length, dimensional requirements, surface condition and the intended end use. ASTM B348 is a commonly referenced specification for titanium and titanium alloy bars and billets, and should be stated on the RFQ when applicable to the project.

Titanium bar and titanium rod are closely related purchasing terms. Buyers may use either description depending on diameter, application and company terminology. For quotation purposes, the most important information is the required grade, dimensions, quantity, specification and inspection or documentation requirements.

Grade 2 and Grade 5 Titanium Bar

Grade 2 titanium is commonly selected where corrosion resistance, formability and commercially pure titanium properties are required. Grade 5 titanium, also known as Ti-6Al-4V, is used where higher strength is required for machined and engineered components. Other titanium grades can be reviewed according to the service environment and drawing requirements.

See our Grade 2 titanium, Grade 5 titanium and complete titanium grade guide when comparing material options.

Diameter, Length and Tolerance Requirements

A titanium bar or titanium rod enquiry should identify the nominal diameter or section size, required length, quantity and any specific dimensional tolerance. Surface condition, straightness, cut length, machining allowance and special inspection requirements should also be stated when they are important to the finished component.

For common dimensional considerations, review the Titanium Bar Size Guide .

Mill Test Reports and Documentation

Documentation requirements should be defined before quotation. If a mill test report (MTR), material certificate, chemical composition results, mechanical property data, inspection records or other project documentation is required, include those requirements in the RFQ so they can be reviewed with the material specification.

Machining and Custom Titanium Bar Supply

Titanium bar is frequently purchased as feedstock for CNC machining, turned parts, fasteners and other engineered components. When the bar will be machined to a finished drawing, include the final component application, machining allowance, surface requirements and any critical dimensions that may influence the starting material.

Lead Time and Quotation

Lead time depends on grade, dimensions, quantity, processing condition, documentation and inspection requirements. Send the complete material specification or drawing for a project-specific review rather than relying on a generic delivery estimate.
