TECHNICAL DATA
Titanium Foil Specifications and Supply Options
EST Metal supplies thin titanium foil for industrial and precision applications. Grade, thickness, width, surface condition, dimensional tolerance and supply form should be defined against the drawing, specification and end-use requirements.
Material Grades
Commercially pure Grade 1 and Grade 2 are commonly selected for titanium foil where corrosion resistance, formability and low weight are important. Grade selection should be confirmed against the required mechanical properties and service environment.
ASTM B265
ASTM B265 is commonly referenced for titanium and titanium alloy strip, sheet and plate. Where ASTM B265 or another material specification is required, include the applicable grade, dimensions, condition and inspection requirements in the RFQ.
Thickness and Gauge
Thin titanium foil can be supplied to project-specific thickness requirements. Because gauge terminology can vary between industries, specifying the required thickness directly in millimetres or inches helps avoid ambiguity during quotation and production review.
Width and Supply Form
Titanium foil may be supplied in coil, strip or cut sheet form depending on thickness, width, quantity and downstream processing. Include required width, length or coil configuration when requesting a quotation.
Dimensional Tolerances
Thickness and width tolerance should be specified when dimensional control is critical. Tolerance capability depends on material grade, thickness, width, processing route and the applicable specification. Drawing-specific requirements can be reviewed before production.
Surface Condition
Surface requirements should be stated according to the intended manufacturing process and final application. Where appearance, cleanliness or downstream bonding and forming are important, describe the required surface condition in the RFQ.
APPLICATIONS
Where Titanium Foil Is Used
Chemical and Corrosion-Resistant Components
Titanium foil is considered for thin corrosion-resistant parts, liners, separators and fabricated components used in chemical processing and other aggressive service environments.
Precision and Lightweight Components
Low density and corrosion resistance make titanium foil useful for lightweight precision components where thin section material is required and material performance must be maintained.
Battery and Energy Applications
Titanium foil may be evaluated for selected battery, electrochemical and energy-system components where corrosion resistance, low weight or compatibility with the operating environment is required. Suitability should be confirmed for the specific cell chemistry, design and service conditions.
QUALITY CONTROL
Inspection and Documentation
Inspection requirements should be agreed before production when the application requires controlled dimensions, material traceability or specific documentation.
Material Certification
State the required material grade, governing specification and certification requirements when submitting the order or RFQ.
Dimensional Inspection
Thickness, width and other agreed dimensions can be inspected against the purchase specification or drawing requirements.
Packaging Requirements
Thin foil requires appropriate handling and packaging to reduce the risk of edge damage, deformation or surface damage during transport. Tell us if your application requires special packaging.
HOW TO SPECIFY
Send the Details That Define the Foil
For a faster technical review, include titanium grade, applicable specification, thickness, width, sheet or coil form, quantity, dimensional tolerance, surface requirements, inspection requirements and destination.
If your requirement is drawing-controlled or application-specific, attach the drawing or technical specification with your RFQ.
QUALITY DOCUMENTATION
Material Traceability & Inspection Documents
Mill Test Report (MTR) and material traceability documentation can be supplied with titanium foil according to order requirements.
