Grade 2 or Grade 5 for Titanium Fasteners?
Grade 2 and Grade 5 are widely specified titanium grades, but they serve different design priorities. Grade 2 is commonly selected where corrosion resistance, formability and general industrial service are important. Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V is typically considered where higher strength-to-weight performance is required.
The correct grade should be selected against the applicable fastener specification, design loads, service environment, thread requirements and customer drawing. Material grade alone does not define the finished fastener requirement.

- Grade 2: commercially pure titanium; commonly considered for corrosion-resistant industrial, chemical and marine applications.
- Grade 5: Ti-6Al-4V; commonly considered for higher-strength and performance-oriented fastener applications.
- Both grades: final mechanical properties, dimensions, threads, inspection and certification should be confirmed against the governing specification or drawing.
Grade 2 Titanium Fasteners
Grade 2 titanium fasteners are commonly considered when corrosion resistance and general industrial performance are primary requirements. Typical product forms include titanium bolts, nuts, screws, studs, washers and made-to-drawing components.
Application conditions remain important. The customer should specify the required fastener type, dimensions, thread, quantity, material specification and any inspection or certification requirements.
Grade 5 Titanium Fasteners
Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V fasteners are generally selected when higher strength-to-weight performance is required. They are used in demanding engineered applications where the fastener material must be considered together with geometry, loading, thread design and the applicable specification.
For critical applications, required mechanical properties and acceptance criteria should be stated on the purchase specification or engineering drawing rather than inferred from the grade designation alone.

What to Include in a Titanium Fastener RFQ
For a more accurate quotation and technical review, provide the material grade, fastener type, diameter, length, thread specification, applicable standard or drawing, quantity, surface or finishing requirements, inspection requirements and required certification.
Where a standard and drawing contain additional requirements, include them with the RFQ so the complete requirement can be reviewed before quotation.
